Previously, the traditional arc welding in the processing of crane boom thin plate there are significant bottlenecks, deformation, difficult to control, unstable, compared with the international first-class welding level there is a big gap. In order to improve product quality and market competitiveness, Sany Heavy lifting welding process aiming at laser welding technology innovation, synchronized with the robot automatic welding instead of the traditional manual operation, and make every effort to break through the double limit of production efficiency and product precision. This process has no ready-made experience to follow, but also needs to face the unpredictable technical risks and implementation difficulties.

The process team strictly follows the standardized process of project management, and after thousands of tests, systematically overcame the key technical difficulties such as the precision control of the gap between the boom cylinder pairs, bevel-less butt welding, spot welding on the outside, and single-side welding and double-side molding, etc., and finally successfully developed the advanced laser-arc composite welding process. This process innovatively realizes the main weld of the boom cylinder without beveling, single-sided welding and double-sided molding, compared with the traditional process route of “beveling + manual bottom welding + double wire cover welding”, streamlining the two processes, improving welding efficiency by 60%, reducing welding deformation by 70%, and maintaining the pass rate of weld X-ray flaw detection at more than 95%, and the technology and welding quality are leading in the industry. In the project, the process team independently developed a handheld laser positioning welding, laser welding filler, laser welding process, laser composite cross welding, laser cleaning and other new laser processes, without the need for instructional programming, to achieve batch production, to build up a coverage of 3.5-100T product laser welding technology system, to completely solve the jib wave deformation of the persistent problems, and significantly improve product quality. Today, in Ningxiang Industrial Park crane production workshop, this technology has fully replaced the traditional process, covering crane large, medium and small cylinder, aerial truck cylinder welding, for example, the cover weld width from 13-14mm reduced to 5-6mm, wire consumption compared with the traditional process by more than 50%. Each advancement of the manufacturing process is engraved with Sany's persistent pursuit of quality - from the millimeter control of welding deformation, to the precision optimization of the flaw detection rate, the quality of this ruler engraved in the genes, has always led Sany products continue to upgrade to high-end!
